Hi guys, Coral here.
Remember the last story I wrote?
Well, I’m going to tell you about the battle between Kronos and me. See, a lot of things happened. I had to take a painful bath in the River Phlegethon. I had to travel to the Underworld, blah, blah, blah. The usual. Well, it’s time for me to start. Now get comfortable and relax with a cup of hot cocoa and read on.
I was sitting
on the couch and staring at my armour and sword. I was thinking about the crazy
scary part of my life that I had gone through last month. I battled a Titan and
met gods and I had also become a protector of Olympus. I was still pretty
scared because I knew I would have to battle a lot of people who wanted to kill
the gods and now, me. So, I went over to my desk and started writing a letter
to my dad, Poseidon. I wrote the following:
Hey Dad,
How are you
doing? I hope that the sea didn’t get polluted again. I was sick for days after
the little garbage incident. So anyway, how’s everything going? Are you still
having the gift I gave you for Father’s Day? I miss you a lot. I wish you could
come visit, but I know Zeus would forbid it. You aren’t allowed to come meet me
unless it’s something important. But I still hope you can come. Mom’s doing
well. She says to send you her love, oh and, she’s given me those cookies you
and the others like. I’m putting it in a ginormous box. There are enough for
all of you, don’t worry. Tell Athena that I miss her. Well, bye now.
Love,
Coral.
Yeah, it was
quite a long letter. So, I sent it with a pouch filled with drachmas via Hermes
Express. I waited for it to disappear and then with a ding! it floated
up and disappeared. I went back and then polished my shield so many times that
when I finished, it looked super shiny. Then I polished my sword and then the
doorbell rang. So I went to open the door, and standing outside was my father,
Poseidon. I squeaked “Umm…. Come in dad. Mom’s gone out to buy groceries. What
are you doing here?” Then, my father explained exactly what was happening. He
explained that Kronos was charging at Olympus in a week. I freaked out at that.
“Kronos is
coming to destroy you guys already?! I can’t do this! I’m not ready to battle
the lord of time and king of the Titans. I just beat Hyperion, for goodness
sake! Just, just tell Zeus I’m not ready yet. I need to train. Please Dad,
please help me.” I said. He said “But Coral, we need you. We will battle
alongside you. Please Coral, come with me. Oh, and by the way, everyone loved
the cookies.” I was hyperventilating but I slowly counted to ten and calmed
down. I told my dad that he could take me to Olympus but there was one
condition. I wanted proper training from Athena and him because the god of the
sea and the goddess of wisdom were a perfect match for a guy who was all brawns
and no brains. He agreed to them and took me back.
As usual,
Olympus stunned me for everything seemed more beautiful and bigger.
Wonderstruck, I followed my father into the giant throne room. I knelt in front
of them and hugged Athena, the goddess who had helped me so much in the war
against Hyperion. Zeus said “Ah finally, you reached. I thought you would take
forever to come.” I gritted my teeth but stayed calm and said “Lord Zeus, I
have but two conditions. One, both Athena and my father must train me. And two,
I want your promise on the River Styx that you will fight with me against
Kronos. You never know, I need might, brains, beauty and brawns to defeat him.”
They all gave me their word and my training began. Athena taught me strategy
and finding balance with my sword. My dad taught me fighting, martial arts and
how to control my powers. My ability to make a hurricane came in useful when I
couldn’t reach a mango on a tall tree. When there were only two days left for
Kronos to arrive, my father introduced me to my partner, Atlantis. Atlantis was
also a son of Poseidon. He was a year younger than me. Atlantis was 17 years
old.
At dawn next
day, Atlantis told me that the only way to avoid Kronos’s scythe killing me was
to become invulnerable. He said “You must take a bath in the Phlegethon. It is
the only way that you will be able to beat Kronos.” I thought, “Okay I can work
with that.” So, I said “Ok Atlantis, when do we leave?” We left immediately. We took a shortcut to my house to get my sword.
Apparently, we needed it.
We had
reached an entrance. It looked like a door made of diamonds. It was very,
sparkly so obviously, I was blinded. Atlantis said, “Cyrene used these doors. Point
your sword into the middle.” I pointed my sword into the middle. The doors
opened and we stepped into the darkness. There was a long and narrow corridor
that seemed to go forever. But then, we finally reached the river after a lot
of walking. I looked at the river and shuddered. In the Phlegethon, there was
fire. The fire reminded me of Hyperion. I said “Well, here goes nothing.” I
focused on the middle of my spine and plunged into the river.
The river was
super hot and I couldn’t breathe. I finally understood why others panicked when
they were drowning. I saw my friends look at me. I would die in this river, I
thought bitterly. Suddenly I felt a hand and saw Athena trying not to laugh.
She said “All right, come on up. Grab my hand!” I grabbed it and I jumped up. I
saw burns everywhere on my body. I told Atlantis “Run! We have little time
left!”
We ran to the
top and burst into the sunlight. We ran until the Empire State Building and
headed to Olympus. We reached in time. Kronos was about to reach. I wore my
armour, grabbed my sword and ran outside. The gods and Atlantis were waiting. I
yelled “Well? What are you waiting for? Attack!” We ran forward and I was
leading them. Kronos shouted “You are the girl who killed Hyperion. For that,
you shall pay. You shall pay with your blood!” I thought, Whoa, he is a maniac.
All the better for me. We all charged and slowly we cornered him.
But just
then, he roared “BACK!” so loudly that the gods had crashed into a wall and it
looked like Athena was hurt a little but Atlantis was wounded badly. I glared
at Kronos and yelled “For hurting my favorite god and my brother, you will
die!” I charged and slashed with such force that his weapon broke into two
pieces. Then, I stabbed at his heart and his eyes glowed brighter and he
howled. I then used my hurricane powers to propel him to Tartarus. Exhausted, I
went to the group lying on the wall, with grins on their faces. I went over to
Atlantis and hugged him. His head was bandaged and he was eating some ambrosia.
I said “Don’t ever worry me like that again.” “Don’t worry, I won’t. After seeing
you go crazy, I have to be careful. I don’t want to get on your bad side!” he
joked. I looked around and said “Well, let the party start!”
The party
that followed was amazing. There were hot dogs, blueberry cakes and my favorite
cookies and juices! This time, I didn’t hesitate. I partied for a day before
returning with Atlantis. It turned out that he lived close by, so we invited
him to move into our big house and so, we became a big happy family. But, since
I was blinded with happiness, I didn’t regard the facts that Kronos and
Hyperion would re-form and together they would gather an army and charge at Olympus with such force, that I would need all
the demigods in California and Los Angles.
